We have been taught to believe...

A couple of quotes I just came across. Guess which one is working today:

"Do not weep; do not wax indignant. Understand."
Spinoza

and...

"We have been taught to believe that negative equals realistic and positive equals unrealistic."  Susan Jeffers

Many, extreme technical difficulties is keeping me off the air. Probably some good in this. Anyway, I tried for an hour to set up today's blogtalk episode to no avail. I need new computer equipment and more training.

Here is the text I was going to read.

Oh, and again: The video of the Jordanian pilot being burned alive is an obvious and absurd fake. All other causes and actions notwithstanding, we need to take a closer look at this thing.

The text is from Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, by Barbara Kingsolver:

"I find myself fundamentally allied with a vegetarian position in every way except one: however selectively, I eat meat. I am unimpressed by arguments that condemn animal harvest while ignoring, wholesale, the animal killing that underwrites vegetal foods. Uncountable deaths by pesticide and habitat removal--the beetles and bunnies that die collaterally for our bread and veggie-burgers-- are lives plumb wasted.
