3)  Local Loco

Use your library. Introduce yourself. Say anything.

Follow one of these suggestions once in a while and you will have a better
neighborhood. You may even make your way softer during the next disaster.

4)       Calendar

                 Thursdays in Westwood, always.

Friday night on the beaches south of LAX lot of solstice fires. Even a driveby
                  should be cool.

5)        Book List

"How To Practice: The Way To A Meaningful Life," His Holiness, The Dalai

                 The Story of Stuff

7)        Feature

Sixty nine years ago, my father geared up for his 19th combat mission about the
carrier Bella Wood. I will forever have to imagine his thoughts and feelings.

He said there was no way to get through flak like that and he was right. His plane
took repeated hits and was unable to return to the ship.

What happened has never been told.

Today I take a moment to honor, and to thank him for his sacrifice, and for his crazy
choice to be the only midshipman who couldn't swim.

...and ended up floating in shark infested waters on this day almost seven decades
                ago.

Battle of the Marianas youtube video

Take a minute to enjoy the spinning of the planet in our warm hugging, bubble at this
markable point in the annual loop. Namaste

1) Local News

           It is Flag Day today.

If you don't feel like waving your flag today, may I suggest trying an
          alternative country?

Fucked up, flawed and problematic though it is, this is your chosen land.
And tired and struggling though you may be, this is still a beautiful life. The
opportunities available in this country in this time are very hard to beat in
the known universe. So show your colors, hug yourself, and then get the fuck
          back to work.

In other local news, millions and millions of people are working their asses off
in cooperative co-dependence to keep our little social experimental system
alive. Pat yourself on the back for doing your part.

...and if you don't like your part, fucking change it! You will be dead very soon, and
there is a good chance that there is a closed wait list for heaven. Get to it.

2)  Other News

Sleeping, apathetic, angry, ignorant people multiplying rapidly
, women raped and
harassed to suicide, children convinced it is all over for them, suffering, sadness,
stupidity, and silly greed driving it all...

2a) Boycott List :  Monsanto, Cold Play, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Charlie Sheen

3)  Local Loco

4)       Calendar

Hug a bee this week! Pollinators rock!

                 Thursdays in Westwood, always.

                 Tuesday nights in Santa Monica.

Saturday mornings on the radio with Uncle Ruthie.

Oh, and if you weren't downtown at 5th and Spring last night, you missed The
Downtown LA ArtWalk for the umpteenth time. 2nd Thursday in July is next. Are you
                 feeling me, Gabby?

Always bad parking and good music at McCabes in Santa Monica.

And Mary Katherine's page, too, Alive And Picking for a more far-flung fling.

5)        Book List

6)        Film List    (movies and shows we think are cool)

Power Yoga: Mind  & Body with Adrienne Reed is broadcast on KVCR
just lately. Thank you, Ms. Reed for your wonderful show that I so totally ignore.
Knowing it is  there is cool, though.

ITSOFOMO, by David W - excerpt

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, by Morgan Spurlock

                 Room 237

                 Cloud Atlas

                 Rock of Ages

                 The Story of Stuff

7)         Green Feature This Week:

                 Plant some lettuce.

Put it in a sunny spot and let it grow. By July 4th, you should have a lot.

Pick some of the leaves. Wash them. Eat them. Repeat.

                 Change your food world.
